Booking Terms & Conditions
By booking onto any of our courses, you agree to abide by our terms and conditions.
Ingredients, utensils, knives, equipment and aprons are provided for all courses. Some meals are included in the course cost – please see appropriate course details for further information.
We reserve the right to make amendments to course content and recipes without notice.
If you are unsure as to your skill requirements for a course, please phone us so we can help ascertain your level of experience before booking. We rely on students being able to self assess their own skill level and are happy to assist with this but cannot be held liable if you book a course much higher or lower than your actual skill level. Please call us on (01239) 820777 if you are in doubt.
Health & Safety
All participants should wear shoes with flat, non-slip soles and covered toes, preferably leather. We cannot admit you to the cookery school without proper footwear. We recommend wearing sensible clothing ie not your best outfit – we are not liable for any damage that occurs to clothing. Long hair must be tied back in the kitchen. All course participants will receive a short briefing on health and safety before commencing the course as well as a printed handout to take with them..
Special dietary requirements, food allergies & illness
We are unable to tailor our course content for special dietary requirements unless you are booking a minimum of 10 places on the course. However, we will be happy to discuss course content beforehand to allow you to make your own alternative eating arrangements if necessary. There is no reduction in fee in this instance.
Please inform us in advance of any allergies, disabilities, diabetes, pregnancy, epilepsy, learning difficulties etc.
All payments should be made in full at the time of booking. We do not take provisional bookings and cannot confirm your place on a course until we receive full payment.

If the School considers that you have behaved in an unacceptable manner, the School will be entitled to exclude you from any course you are currently enrolled on or booked in the future. If the School is unable to reallocate your place, no refund of fees will be made.
We cannot be held responsible for delays or disruptions in our carrier’s service; such as strikes, extreme weather etc.
If you order any items from our cookery store, we will aim to send these out by First Class post within 2 business days. Read our full Delivery information.
- The School will not accept responsibility for the loss of any personal possessions.
- The School will not be liable for any loss suffered by you which is indirect, special or consequential.
- The Contract contains all of the contractual terms agreed between you, the invoice addressee and the School.
- No failure or delay by the School in enforcing any of its rights under the Contract shall be deemed to be a waiver of such right.
- The Contract shall be governed by English and Welsh law.
Copyright & Acceptable Usage
Full copyright of course content developed by Vic North Ltd is retained by the cookery school. Course notes and reference materials are provided to support students in their studies and ongoing cookery development and is issued for personal use only. A lot of work has gone into the development of our course content and it has commercial value. The sharing of course materials by print, press, photocopy, email, blogs, internet or any digital transfer medium is strictly prohibited without the express written permission of Vicky North Ltd. If in doubt, please ask about what is and isn’t acceptable usage.
Our cancellation policy is designed to give our customers the freedom to change a course booking without penalty when enough notice is given, but we have some conditions around short notice cancellations which have an impact on other customers and on our business. We will always try to help when ever possible but please familiarise yourself with our cancellations policy.

Terms of Cancellation
To request cancellation, you must give the school written notice (either via a letter or our contact form). Unless you receive a written acknowledgment from us, you cannot consider your request delivered.
You may only terminate the contract in the circumstances set out below:
Course cancellations more than 21 days from the start of your course.
You may request a change of course dates up to 21 days of the start of the course and we will happily transfer you to another date, subject to availability without cost.
You may also request a refund up to 21 days of the start of the course you have booked.
Please note that there is an administration charge of £15 for course cancellations.
Course Cancellations within 21 days of the start of your course.
Most bookings for courses at the cookery school are made months in advance. It is therefore often hard for us to resell places within 21 days of the start date.
If you want to cancel your booking within 21 days of the start of your course, we will relist you place for resale to our customers. If we are unable to resell your place in the time remaining, you will forfeit any course fees associated with your booking.
Note: you can also transfer/sell to another person if you notify us.
If a person that is booked on a course fails to attend for any reason, they would not be entitled to a refund or rebooking of another course.
Cancellations by the Cookery School
The school will be entitled to cancel any course at any time subject to the repayment of course fees.
In the unlikely event of a cancellation by ourselves, we undertake to offer a suitable transfer to an alternative date or course, or a full refund (within 7 days) of course fees. We cannot be held liable for any third-party costs such as travel bookings or accommodation.
No refund will be made if you fail to attend your course (and the school is unable to reallocate your place.)
Refunds that are due will be made within 7 working days of approval.
All refunds are made to the source of initial payment, ie fees paid by a credit card can only be refunded to the same card.
Refunds are not available on gift voucher purchases nor can gift vouchers be exchanged for cash or other goods. Gift vouchers are transferable, so if you are unable to make your course, you may contact us to nominate an alternative date.
We will ensure that every aspect of our activity is conducted in accordance with sound environmental practice (with the requirements of environmental legislation and approved codes of practice) to pursue sustainability and the prevention of pollution.
We will minimise waste, recycle where possible and ensure that all waste is disposed of in a safe and responsible manner.
We aim to identify negative impact on environmental aspects and prioritise action to reduce them.
All employees are made aware of this policy and their responsibilities for environmental issues.
The cookery school operates an energy conservation policy to ensure that all non-critical equipment is switched off when not needed. We will always seek to purchase products that are environmentally friendly, re-usable, recyclable and biodegradable and do not damage the environment.
Whenever possible, we use:
Recyclable packaging material
Purchase local, sustainable produce based on low food miles to reduce carbon emission.
Support our local economy and community.
Assist customers to use products and services in an environmentally sensitive way.
Encourage all suppliers to raise similar environmental standards.
